Looking for some local must sees
My husband and I along with my Brother and sister-in-law are planning a trip to Gettysburg, PA from 8/2/08 - 8/9/08 and then moving to Williamsburg, VA from 8/9/08 - 8/16/08. We will be camping in our 5th wheel.
I have done searches on the "tourist" things to do, but was looking for some things that wouldn't be in the tourist hand books.
I thank you in advance for your help and if you ever need thing to see and do in Northwest Vermont, please feel free to contact me.:C

RE: Anyone cancelling trips due to gas prices?
We are from Vermont and going to Gettysburg, then DC and maybe Williamsburg and wouldn't think of canceling. My brother and sister-in-law are traveling with us, so this may help with the cost.
We have been planning this trip for 6 months as this is the first traveling vacation my brother has had in 10+ years, so there is no way we could cancel for gas prices. I am the only one of the 4 of us that has been to Gettysburg or DC, so, I am excited about "playing" tour guide and everyone is excited about seen everything that these historical places has to offer.
As others have stated, not saving anything if you fly or drive and then have to pay hotel and eating out every night.
I don't know if you have been to Vermont before, but we look forward to your visit to our beautiful Green Mountain state.
Best route from Vermont to Gettysburg, PA
My husband and I purchased a new 5th wheel last summer and are planning our first “big” trip for this year in August.
We live in Vermont and want to go to Gettysburg, PA. Good Sam’s trip planning has us go down 87 to South of Albany, NY and in PA has us go to Bethlehem, Allentown, Reading, Harrisburg and then to Gettysburg.
Is this the best way to get there? I traveled this route about 15 years ago and I seem to remember (my memory could be way off though) that there were some steep grades on this route.
Would it be a better towing route to go down 87 to 95 and then go west in Maryland?
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Camp Grounds around Washington DC
My husband and I purchased a new 5th wheel last summer and are planning our first “big” trip for this year in August.
Are there any camp grounds that you would recommend in the DC area? I remember camping at a campground in Manassas about 15 years ago, but I can’t seem to find any campgrounds North of Fredericksburg.
We want to spend some time in Gettysburg, PA also, should we camp in PA and do day trips to DC?
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
